La Java Nightclub and Music Venue in Paris

Having been running since the 1920s today this is a nightclub in Paris with an unusual mix of sounds from rock through to electro and punk through to house, etc, but there are also live music events and concerts held here.

A bit of history

The building itself was first designed by the architect Ferdinand Bauguil and the construction was completed back in 1924, and because of its Art Deco appearance this has now been registered on the supplemental list of historical monuments.

And it is since this time in a small area of this building that La Java opened up as a music venue, which has seen people such as Edith Piaf perform here along with many other notable stars, but in a place where wine was not expensive and with a warm atmosphere that many entertainment venues in Paris lacked.

But World War II in Paris came and eventually as business dwindled it closed its doors and did not reopen again until 1968, and has since then undergone changes to reflect the times from rock and roll through to rock.

About La Java Music Venue and Nightclub

La Java continues to move with the times, yet is not one of the trendy or chic nightclubs in Paris that attract hip crowds, and it is still a more traditional music venue with a friendly atmosphere.
Having said that, although there are live performances, concerts and music acts that include Jazz, rock and chansons, etc you can also indulge in a night of electro, house, techno sounds and much more from DJs providing local as well as international sounds.

In fact, there is such a mix at La Java club, the dance floor never seems to empty, and there is always something one evening or another to suite your taste, whether it be at a weekend that only starts from around midnight or during the week where concerts start from around 8.30pm.

So there is a very varied line up of performances during specific weeknights that include jazz, rock, and much more, which normally start at around 8.30pm and do vary in cost from around €8 upwards, through to the weekend nightclub scene that only starts at midnight and goes until dawn.

And the nearest Metro stations to La Java club are the Goncourt stop via line 11 or the Belleville stop via lines 2 or 11 and the Gare de l’Est train station is not that far away, but you also have the bus numbers 46 and 75 that will get you close by.

However, we would like to point out that most public transport in Paris usual stops running between the hours of around 1am through to around 5am.  So therefore, if you are leaving or arriving at this nightclub late, then you would need to use the Noctilien Night Bus Service and there is a stop at the Belleville Metro station for the numbers N12 and N23.

Booking of tickets for an evening at La Java can be done online as well as via telephone, and you may be pleased to know that there is no particular dress code, although we would like to point out that the toilets are unisex and even the cocktails are served in plastic glasses.  So this is a far more down to earth place than some, yet with a friendly convivial atmosphere compared to some of the nightclubs in Paris, it is a place you still often see locals.
