Andre Le Notre designed the central alley of the Tuileries Gardens called the Allee Centrale in order to provide a long perspective through the gardens from the former royal palace of the Tuileries, yet he also envisioned this perspective being extended outside the gardens with a tree lined avenue, which has become known as the Avenue des Champs Elysees.

So here you can see the view looking to the Ferris wheel set up at the Place de la Concorde, which was originally called the Place Louis XV when created as a vestibule for the garden in the early 1700s, along with the Luxor Obelisk in the centre, yet you can also see all the way up the Champs Elysees to the famous tourist attraction of the Arc de Triomphe.
