However, this image shows a very close up photo of the Lion au Serpent statue, which was sculpted by Antoine-Louis Barye, who was a renowned animalier, or sculptor of animals, and it was designed to depict a time relating to the constellation of Leo.

Although there was controversy over the nature of the sculpture at the time, it was still installed within the Tuileries Gardens on the Terrasse du Bord de l'Eau, which is actually the terrace on the southern side of the gardens that overlooks the River Seine, and this is the way we were facing when we took this photo in a south westerly direction.
