Water features have always played an important role within gardens of chateaux, and along with fountains and basins, ponds were also utilised, often contain fish such as carp, and here you can see one of two ponds within the Grand Couvert area of the Jaridin des Tuileries.

So this is a view looking in an south easterly direction over the Exedre sud towards one of the cafe style restaurants that overlooks this pond, which provides even more biodiversity to this historical garden, that is now maintained by a dedicated team of gardeners under the direction of the Musee du Louvre, who are responsible for its upkeep.
