A vegetable garden, sometimes referred to as a kitchen garden, would have been found at virtually every home and palaces were no exception, having a vast area laid out just for growing different items of food to feed the court and guests of the royal family, so in keeping with tradition, the Tuileries Gardens still has a vegetable garden.

And this is a view looking over the vegetable garden in a south westerly direction, which is located in one of the groves, known as a bosquet in French, and called the Potager, this is on the side of the Jardin des Tuileries nearest the River Seine in the Grand Couvert area by the Allee de Castiglione and the Allee sous couvert sud.
