We were looking in a south, south easterly direction over a pond with an exadra called the Exedre nord with its Faune au Chevreau statue, which is one of two located within the Grand Couvert area of the Jardin des Tuileries, that was part of a project instigated by the French government in 1794.

The idea was to add different aspects that would have been found during the Roman Empire including statues, porticoes and exedras, although the exdra you can see here, which is an architectural term for a semi-circular platform with a low wall or seating, along with its twin are the only parts that were finished.
