HD photograph of Vivier Sud inside Jardin des Tuileries looking north westerly - Page 321
We took this photo looking in a north westerly direction over one of the two small round basins called the Vivier Sud, while within the Grand Carre area of the Jardin des Tuileries on the south east side of the gardens, which originally would have been closest to the former Palais des Tuileries.

And water features, such as ponds, basins and fountains were a major part of the design for a Jardin a la Francaise, which is basically a formal French Garden, with probably the most spectacular being those at the Chateau de Versailles that was designed by the landscape architect Andre Le Notre, who was also commissioned by King Louis XIV to re-design the Tuileries Gardens.
