Here you can see a view looking in a north, north westerly direction over the Exedre Sud with its pond and Venus Callipyge statue, which we took while standing along the Allee sous couvert Sud within the Grand Couvert area of the Jardin des Tuileries.

You will find that an Exedre, spelt Exedra in English, is a form of architecture used since Roman times, designed in a semi-circular shape often as a platform or a recess, but sometimes covered when put into a building other ways are when they are utilised to display a portrait style statue, just as you can see in this photo, which was one of the design features added to the gardens in the late 1700s.
