We took this photo while standing side on to one of the many statues located within the Jardin des Tuileries, as we were looking in a north, north easterly direction down one of the pathways in the Grand Carre area, which takes you towards the Rue de Rivoli.

Now the gardens were first laid out for Catherine de Medici, the widow of King Henri II, however, Marie de Medici, the wife of King Henri IV, had stables and a riding school installed on the edge of the Tuileries Gardens although these have long since gone, but certain features are still the same since the reign of King Louis XIV, including the Grand Carre area with its parteres and gravel paths for promenading
