We were looking in a south, south westerly direction when we took this photograph while on the terrace in the Tuileries Gardens called the Terrasse de l'Orangerie, which overlooks the Place de la Concorde, that would be to the right of the image where the lion is positioned at the perimeter.

Yet in front you can see a bronze statue, which is probably one of the most famous sculptures by Auguste Rodin called The Kiss, and beyond this you can see the balustrades at the edge of the terrace, which looks over the River Seine, and this was one of the design features so that the royal family could view their surroundings from an elevated position.
