HD photograph of Jardin du Carrousel inside Tuileries Gardens looking easterly - Page 274
We took this photo looking towards the I M Pei pyramid and the famous Musee du Louvre while we were standing within a part of the Jardin du Carrousel, which is maintained by the museum and became a part of the Jardin des Tuileries in 1883 after the original Tuileries Palace had been demolished.

Yet originally the Carrousel Garden was actually the Cour d'Honnor of the Palais des Tuileries that Catherine de Medici, the widow of King Henri II, had constructed, although it was only named the Cour du Carrousel during the reign of King Louis XIV, when he created a courtyard for an event to be held in 1662 to celebrate the birth of his first male heir.
