Even though the Tuileries Gardens were first designed for Queen Catherine de Medici, the widow of King Henri II, back in the 1560s, over the centuries things have changed and there have been many additions to the former royal gardens, including modern and contemporary art sculptures added at the start of 2000 including these ones called Grand Commandement Blanc.

And we took this photograph looking in a south westerly direction while on the Terrasse de l'Orangerie, which is the terrace nearest the River Seine side of the Jardin des Tuileries that was named after the building you can see a part of here designed originally to be an orangery, yet is now a museum.
