We were looking in a northerly direction over the Exedre Sud and the two statues of Daphne and Apollo, although these are actually copies, as the originals, which were brought from the Chateau de Marly, are now held within the famous Musee du Louvre, who also manage and maintain this impressive public park in the heart of Paris.

And this is one of two exedras that are located within the Grand Couvert area of the Tuileries Gardens, that were meant to be a part of a grand redesign to include Roman features such as porticos, columns and additional classical decorations such as the exedra, which is a semi-circular platform located at the opposite end of the pond, but these were the only elements of the vision by painter Jacques Louis David that were ever completed.
