While standing next to the Demi-lune Reserve nord parterre of the Jardin des Tuileries we took this photo looking past the statue of Cain in a south easterly direction towards the Aile de Flore and its pavilion of the impressive former royal castle and palace, now home to the Louvre Museum.

Now we mentioned parterre and this is actually one of the terms used within formal French gardens, which is a name used for an area of grass often with defining lines of gravel, sometimes coloured, along with flowerbeds, which would be in a geometrical design between alleyways or paths to provide aesthetics or principles of appreciation while people were strolling through the grounds.
