Lions and lionesses have always played a major role within heraldry and royalty, with statues of these wild animals often being found at entrances to temples, palaces, etc, plus even within their grounds, and the Jardin des Tuileries along with the Musee du Louvre is no exception.

And looking as though the lioness is surveying the area, we took this photo looking in a very similar direction over the Jardin du Carrousel section of the Tuileries Gardens from the wing of the former Palais du Louvre called the Aile de Flore, which is north easterly, as though you are heading towards the Louvre Museum and the I M Pei pyramid entrance.
