HD photograph of Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel inside Jardin des Tuileries looking south easterly - Page 226
The Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel was constructed for Napoleon Bonaparte and was once between the Palais des Tuileries and the Palais du Louvre, however, when the Tuileries Palace was destroyed by fire during the Paris Commune and demolished a few years later, this opened up the perspective from the royal gardens right through to what is now the Louvre Museum.

And this is a view we took from the Place du Carrousel looking in a south easterly direction, with the Jardin du Carrousel being out of view but on either side, and developed between 1882 and 1883, these became a part of the Jardin des Tuileries at this time, which is located behind us.
