It was in 1964 that the Minister for Cultural Affairs, Andre Malraux, decided that the statues by Aristide Maillol, which had been donated to the city of Paris by his model and muse Dina Vierny, would be installed in the Jardins du Carrousel, and this is a view showing the Ile de France statue while we were looking in a south easterly direction.

However, starting in 1991 when the Jardin des Tuileries was classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, the Jardin du Carrousel was redeveloped by Jacques Wirtz and Peter Wirtz, incorporating boxwood hedges, which have been a traditional design feature in French style gardens for centuries.
