This is a view from the Grand Reserve sud looking in a south westerly direction over the open grass area of the Grand Carre section of Jardin des Tuileries, and you can see steps at the back leading up to a terrace, which is called the Terrasse du Bord de l'Eau, that was designed to be looking over the gardens as well as the Quai des Tuileries and the River Seine.

And this historical garden was originally named after the area where there used to be workshops for manufacturing tiles, and through excavations they have been known to exist since the middle ages, so when Catherine de Medici had her palace built and the gardens for this laid out, they were named to refer to this.
