Now this photo shows the back of the Musee de l'Orangerie, which is located on the terrace of the Tuileries Gardens on the south western side by the Place de la Concorde in the 1st Arrondissement of Paris, which is the direction we were looking north west.

Most royal gardens would have an orangery in order to keep the orange trees protected from frost, etc during the colder months, and this building was constructed for Napoleon III for this purpose, although, as you have no doubt guessed, this has been turned into a museum, which is home to the Water Lilies paintings by Claude Monet.
