Running along the longest edges of the Jardin des Tuileries there are two terraces, which were designed by Andre Le Notre in order to provide views over the gardens, as his landscape features were designed to be seen from above, and this is a view looking along the Terrasse du Bord de l'Eau located by the River Seine.

But as you can tell, positioned on this terrace is a statue by the famous French animalier sculptor, Antoine Louis Barye, called Lion au Serpent, and we took this photo by the alley that leads to the Musee de l'Orangerie, which is in a north westerly direction, as though you were facing towards the Place de la Concorde.
