We were in the Grand Carre area of the Jardin des Tuileries standing by one of the parterres called the Demi-lune Reserve nord, when we took this photograph looking in a southerly direction towards the Grand Bassin rond, which in English translates to the Large Round Basin.

And although the Tuileries Gardens were originally laid out in an Italian Renaissance style for Catherine de Medici, it was Andre Le Notre that redesigned it in a formal French style called the Jardin a la Francaise although some of the vases and statues, like those you can see here were put in place centuries later.
