A carousel, often referred to as a merry-go-round originally came about when they were constructed for the enjoyment of anyone rather than just as a spectator at old jousting events, and becoming popular at fairgrounds and then within parks, this is one of the entertainments for children permanently in the Tuileries Gardens.
