HD photograph from Grand Carre area inside Jardin des Tuileries looking north east - Page 142
We were standing close to the Grand Bassin Rond within the Grand Carre area of the Jardin des Tuileries, which is the more open area of the gardens that was laid out in symmetrical patters by Andre Le Notre in the 1600s, but it was during the 18th century that statues were put in place around this basin.

Many of these statues were based upon ancient mythology, and this is a view on the northern side of the basin water feature looking in an easterly direction, with the nearest statue being called The centaur Nessus carrying off Dejanire, while the one on the opposite side of the alley is Theseus fighting the Minotaur.
