The Place du Carrousel and the Jardin du Carrousel commemorates an event organised by King Louis XIV in the June of 1662 to celebrate the birth of his son, when he created an enormous courtyard for spectators to watch different events that was named after a traditional horse tournament from Italian origin called a Carrousel.

And this is a photo we took from the courtyard looking over a part of the Carrousel Garden, which are now part of the Jardin des Tuileries, towards the Pavillon de Marsan and the Aile de Marsan, that are wings of the famous Louvre, and this section actually holds the Musee des Arts Decoratifs.
