As you are heading towards the Musee du Louvre through the Jardin des Tuileries along the Allee Centrale, you will then come to the original entrance gates and further on to the Jardin du Carrousel section of the gardens, which is where we were when we took this photo with the Carrousel Gardens on either side.

However, as you can also see in this photo, you will find the monumental arch called the Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel, which was constructed for Napoleon Bonaparte as he wanted a ceremonial entrance to the Palais des Tuileries where he was residing in this former royal palace, yet after this was destroyed it opened up the historical axis from the Louvre right up to the larger Arc de Triomphe and beyond.
