We took this photograph when we had just gone up the step to the terrace, which was named the Terrasse du Jeu de Paume after the building that was constructed for Napoleon III to house a tennis court, but has since become a museum.

Yet this shows a view looking over the Bassin Octogonal in the western part of the Jardin des Tuileries towards the opposite terrace nearest the River Seine and the former orangery of the gardens, which is now another museum called the Musee de l'Orangerie holding the famous Water Lilies paintings by Monet.
