Originally designed by the engineer Plouard back in the 1820s, the Pont de l'Archeveche has become popular for people to attach a padlock or love lock to the side railings, as you can see in this photograph, especially after the padlocks were removed from the Pont des Arts bridge in 2010, yet all have been removed again.
