We were walking along the Avenue du Colonel Henri Rol-Tanguy looking south when we took this photo showing a part of the historical Barriere d'Enfer, which was a toll house for collecting a tax on goods known as the Octroi, and as you can see, it looks rather imposing and daunting, and there is a second one of these on the opposite side of the road.
