While we were in the 14th Arrondissement of Paris at the Place Denfert-Rochereau, we took these high definition photos showing the Denfert-Rochereau Metro station entrance along Avenue du Colonel Henri Rol-Tanguy.

This first HD photo shows an ornate art nouveau entrance and exit to an underground station for the Paris Metro, which is actually located right next to one of the historical buildings known as the Barriere d'Enfer at the Place Denfert-Rochereau, and this is on the southern side of the square close to the popular tourist attraction of the Catacombes.
Now here you can see the information board for the Denfert-Rochereau Metro stop that serves lines 4 and 6 of the Paris Metro, although when this station first opened back in the April of 1906, the first line served was called line 2 sud, before then becoming part of line 5, yet during World War II, it then became a part of the Metro line 6.
Yet this shows a close up of the original sign overhead, held in place by cast iron, which states Metropolitain, and this is the full name for the subway system known in short as the Metro, and the second line served by the Denfert-Rochereau Metro station was first opened in the October of 1909 and still remains a stop on Metro line 4.
But here you can see the ornate cast iron railings that go around the entrance to the Metro at Denfert-Rochereau, and these were designed in an art mouveau style by Hector Guimard, and although many of the original entrances had ornate covers on them, several entrances have since been destroyed, although you can still see original features like this one that are dotted in different areas of Paris.
