L'Automne is an allegorical statue that depicts a time of year called Autumn or Fall, depending upon whereabouts you come from, and after an initial plaster model had been approved, this statue was then sculpted in stone for a facade of the former Palais du Louvre called the Aile Henri II.
Now this next close up HD photo shows the detailing that went into producing this statue, which was by Francois Trupheme who was born in 1820 with a full name of Andre Francois Joseph Trupheme, and he went to Paris in 1840 to enrole at the Ecole des Beaux Arts to study and become a French sculptor.
Right through from 1850 to 1888 when Francois Trupheme passed away, he presented works at the Paris Salons for French artists, and getting recognised he received several commissions for tourist attractions in Paris including this one of The Autumn for the Louvre Museum and others for the Palais Garnier and the Hotel de Ville, yet many statues are now held within museums in France.
However, this photograph shows the location of the L'Automne statue, which has been positioned on the balustrade by the roof line of the Aile Henri II, and when you are looking at the exterior of this wing from the courtyard of the Louvre called the Cour Napoleon, you will see that this is the sixth statue from the left hand side.
