This first HD photo shows a statue called La Paix, which in English translates to The Peace, and this was sculpted in stone for the former Palais du Louvre and put in place on the Aile Colbert back in 1857.
Here you can see a close up showing the top part of The Peace statue, which unfortunately is showing wear and tear due to its age, but this was sculpted by Pierre Eugene Herbert, who is also known as Hebert the younger.
Pierre Eugene Emile Hebert was born in 1828 and followed in his fathers footsteps to become a sculptor initially being taught by his father, Pierre Hebert, before studying under Jean Jacques Feuchere, receiving commissions for different tourist attractions such as the Hotel de Ville and four for The Louvre.
Yet here you can see the location of La Paix, which is positioned on the third level balustrade by the roof line of the Aile Colbert, and when you are looking at this south facing wing from the Cour Napoleon courtyard, you will see that this is the fifth statue from the left hand side of this facade.
