This first HD photo shows a statue called Modestie, which is an allegory depicting Modesty, and this was sculpted in marble back in 1858 and placed on the Aile Est facade of the former Palais du Louvre in 1861.
But here you can see a close up of the Modestie statue that was produced by Louis Leopold Chambard who was born in the Jura area of France in 1811, yet studied in Paris under David d'Angers to become a French sculptor, winning the Prix de Rome in 1837.
From there on, having furthered his studies at the Villa Medici, French Academy in Italy, he received many orders for statues to adorn tourist attractions including no less than six for The Louvre along with others for churches such as the Tour Saint Jacques and the Eglise Saint Germain l'Auxerrois, etc.
However, in this image you can see the location of the Modesty statue that is positioned within a niche on the first level of the Aile Est facade, and when you are looking at this wing of the Louvre Museum from the courtyard called the Cour Carree, you will see this is the second statue from the right hand side.
