This first HD photo shows the statue of Pandore, which is Pandora in English, and she is recognised for the term Pandora's box, which comes from Greek mythology as the one who was the giver of gifts and in legend she opened up a jar, although translations took it as a box.
Now this next photograph shows a close up of the marble statue depicting Pandora holding a box, which was sculpted by Pierre Loison and put in place on the former Palais du Louvre back in 1861.
And born in 1816 he initially apprenticed as a shoemaker before being awarded a scholarship to study under David d'Angers then enter the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, and throughout his career Pierre Loison received numerous different public commissions, so his works can now be found in many places throughout France.
But for The Louvre he received several different commissions including this one of Pandore along with others for tourist attractions in Paris such as the Hotel de Ville and Palais Garnier opera house
Yet this photograph shows the location of the Pandore statue, which is positioned within a niche on the Aile Est, and the East Wind of The Louvre can be seen from the courtyard called the Cour Carree, so when looking at this facade, you will find the statue third from the right hand side on the lower level.
