This first HD photo shows a statue called La Peinture that was produced in marble and placed on the wing of the former Palais du Louvre called the Aile Est back in 1891, which is an allegory and in English this translates to The Painting.
The Painting statue was produced by Jean Turcan who was born in 1846 and received a scholarship from Marseille to study in Paris to become a French sculptor, studying under Perre Cavelier.
Jean Turcan received public commissions for statues on the Hotel de Ville along with this one La Peinture for The Louvre, yet unfortunately his career was short lived as he passed away at the young age of forty-nine after a long illness.
But here you can see the location of The Painting statue positioned within a niche on the Aile Est wing of the Louvre Museum, and situated on the first level, while you are standing in the courtyard called the Cour Carree, you will see this is the fourth from the right hand side.
