This first HD photo shows the statue called Pensierosa, which comes from the Italian word pensieroso and being that this is an allegory, the name that the female figure was given means pensive or thoughtful, hence the pose.
Here you can see a close up photograph of the Pensierosa statue, which was produced by Giovanni Antonio Lanzirotti who was an Italian born sculptor, yet decided to go to Paris, but then went to Turin after being commissioned by King Vittorio Emanuele II for statues, and it was from here that he sent back La Pensieroso to Paris.
Upon his return to Paris he executed many different busts and portrait style statues, receiving many awards and honours during his career including being inducted into the Order of the Crown of Italy, only passing away in 1921.
However, this image shows the location of the Pensierosa statue positioned within a niche on the Aile Nord of the former Palais du Louvre, which was produced back in 1858, and when you are looking at the facade from the courtyard of the Louvre Museum called the Cour Carree, you will see this has been placed on the lower level, fourth from the left hand side.
