This first HD photo shows the memorial plaque for Michel Mouchet and the stone plant pot with its flowers located in a niche within the sandstone wall of the Tuileries Gardens below the Jeu de Paume, yet facing onto the Rue de Rivoli, right by the Place de la Concorde.
Now this close up photograph shows the commemorative plaque, and there are ten of these in total, all with slightly different inscriptions and when generally translated into English, this reads, Here is fallen 25th August 1944, Warrant Officer, Michel Mouchet, of the Regiment of Paris Fire Brigade. Died for the Liberation.
You will find that it was Marie-Helene Lefaucheux, vice president of the post-liberation Municipal Council that became involved with the project to organise this particular World War II memorial right by where the intense fighting took place in this area of Paris, which was realised later that same year.
And here you can see a photo showing the flowers that had been planted within the stone flower pot in the niche in memory of Michel Mouchet, and you can just see some of the others further along the wall of the Jardin des Tuileries, which are dedicated to people who also lost their lives on this day.
