This first HD photo shows a statue on the Aile Est of the former Palais du Louvre called Nymphe, which in English is spelt Nymph, and in Greek mythology a Nymph was a minor female deity who was always portrayed as a young maiden woman and referred to as a divine spirit.
Now this statue was produced by Pierre Bernard Prouha and put in place in the 1850s, however, as you can tell from this close up photo, the poor statue has seen a significant amount of wear and virtually all of its features have gone including the face of the Nymphe.
Yet Pierre Bernard Prouha, who was born in 1822 and studied under French sculptors including Augustin Alexandre Dumont and Etienne Jules Ramey, received several other orders for the Louvre Museum, such as another female figure depicting Abundance, which is in far better condition than the Nymph.
Although you can also find works by Pierre Bernard Prouha at other tourist attractions like at the castles of Versailles and Fontainebleau and the Hotel de Ville, but many statues that he presented at Salons do not appear to have survived.
However, this particular Nymphe statue is located within a niche on the first level of the Aile Est, and when you are looking at the western facade of The Louvre from the courtyard called the Cour Carree, you will see this is positioned third from the left hand side.
