This first HD photo shows the statue call La Ceramique, which in English translates to The Ceramics, and this is an allegorical statue located on the Rotonde d'Apollon, where you can see a young child holding a vase and leaning on a pot.
And here you can see some of the detailing on this allegory of Ceramics, which was produced in stone by Victor Huguenin who was born in Dole in 1802 with a full name of Jean Pierre Victor Huguenin, yet he went to Paris to study at the Ecole des Beaux Arts.
Victor Huguenin actually became a professor of sculpture at the School of Fine Arts in Besancon, yet decided to return to Paris where he exhibited his works at the Salons for French artists and he received commissions for some well recognised statues like Valentine of Milan, which is located in the Luxembourg Gardens.
He also produced several statues for different churches and of course this statue for the former Palais du Louvre, yet many of the works by Victor Huguenin can now be found within the Museum of Fine Arts in his home town of Dole.
Yet this image shows the location of La Ceramique, which is positioned by a chimney at the top of the Rotonde d'Apollon, and when you are looking at this facade from the courtyard of the Louvre Museum called the Cour Napoleon, you will see that this is the third statue from the left hand side.
