In this first HD photo you can see the statue called Guerrier Assis, which in English translates to Sitting Warrior, and made of stone the warrior is holding a sword looking towards the Pavilion on the former Palais du Louvre, that was originally put in place back in 1868.
The Sitting Warrior was produced by Jean Joseph Perraud who was born in 1819 and initially entered the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Lyon before going to Paris and studying under Etienne Jules Ramey to become a French sculptor, winning the Prix de Rome and furthering his studies at the Villa Medici in Italy prior to returning to France.
Jean Joseph Perraud received many different commissions from the French state, especially within Paris, so you can discover his works at tourist attractions such as the Musee Galliera, the Gare du Nord and the Jardin Marco Polo, not forgetting this facade of the Louvre Museum where he produced two different statues, both called Guerrier Assis.
However this image shows that the Guerrier Assis statue is located on the third level balustrade next to the roof line and to the right hand side of the Pavillon de Tremoille, which can be seen from the courtyard of the Louvre called the Cour du Carrousel when you are looking south towards the River Seine.
