This first HD photo shows a statue called La Chasse, which in English translates to The Hunt, and this is an allegorical stone statue that can be found on the former Palais du Louvre.
However, prior to the stone version, this statue was originally executed in plaster, which is now held within another popular tourist attraction in Paris called the Musee d'Orsay, but Auguste Jean Baptiste Lechesne also produced another statue for The Louvre called La Chasse, yet for an entirely different wing.
So here you can see a close up photograph of The Hunt statue, which was produced between 1855 and 1857 by the artist who was born in Caen in 1815, and Auguste Jean Baptiste Lechesne entered the Ecole des Beaux Arts studying under Pierre Charles Simart to become a French sculptor.
It was during the 1840s Auguste Jean Baptiste Lechesne became well recognised for his sculptures and different decorations that he executed for many Paris mansion houses, which then led to him getting public commissions including several statues for The Louvre, but many can also be found within his home town of Caen.
Now here you can see that La Chasse is located on a balustrade, which is on the third level of the Aile en retour Turgot wing of the Louvre Museum, and positioned fourth from the left hand side, this can be seen from the courtyard called the Cour du Carrousel.
