In this first HD photo you can see a statue called L’Agriculture, which is an allegorical statue depicting agriculture that was sculpted in stone and put in place in 1857 during the restoration and renovations of the former Palais du Louvre.
Yet here you can see a close up photograph showing some of the detailing that went into producing this allegorical statue depicting Agriculture, such as the small scythe the young girl is holding in her right hand that would be used to cut the sheaf of corn she is holding up by her left side.
Now L'Agricuture was produced by Theodore Gruyere who was born in either 1813 or 1814 depending upon what sources you read, but he studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris to become a French sculptor, winning the Prix de Rome in 1839.
From then on Theodore Gruyere had a prolific career with numerous public commissions for statues to adorn many of the famous tourist attractions in Paris, and he sculpted no less than nine different decorations for The Louvre, along with others for places such as the Palais Garnier, Hotel de Ville, Tour Saint Jacques and the Gare du Nord.
So, L'Agriculture by Theodore Gruyere can be found on the Pavillon de Rohan on the third level balustrade by the roofline and a chimney, but to be even more precise, this is located in the middle of this wing on the Louvre Museum, and can be seen from the courtyard called the Cour du Carrousel.
