This first HD photo shows a pediment on the Aile de Rohan, which is called Trophee d'Armes, and in English this translates to Trophy of Arms, and you can see this from the courtyard of the former Palais du Louvre called the Cour du Carrousel.
Now there are actually six sculptured pediments on this particular wing, with the Trophee d'Armes being the third one from the left hand side as you are looking at the South facade, and all of these were sculpted by the artist Combette.
The Palais du Louvre was one of the numerous tourist attractions in Paris that was being renovated and restored during the mid to late 1800s, and hundreds of different artists were commissioned to produce additional embellishments such as statues and sculptures for these.
However, some of these artists and sculptors are very little known, just like Combette, yet as you can see in this close up photograph, the detailing that went into producing this relief sculpture is very impressive as an allegory, which depicts trophies through arms, or the spoils of war, as these trophies are often referred to.
