So this first HD photo shows the pediment called La Paix, which in English translates to The Peace, and you can see a lion that the female allegory with wings is caressing, and although the lion is often represented as king of the jungle, renowned for strength and courage, this creature is also often portrayed as being one of wisdom and order, hence the name of Peace.
Now you will find that La Paix was produced by Frederic Louis Desire Bogino who was born in Paris in 1831, and becoming a French sculptor, he was commissioned for several different sculptures and statues including this one for The Louvre along with several for churches including two for the Eglise Saint Roch tourist attraction in Paris and many others.
But in this photograph you can see the entire top section of the Aile de Marsan with the pediment called La Paix, and when you are looking at this facade of the Louvre Museum it is located to the far right hand side above the third level window.
