We were in the 1st Arrondissement of Paris at the Musee du Louvre, when we took these high definition photos showing a Pediment on the Aile de Flore, which was sculpted by Eugene Delaplanche.

This first HD photo shows an allegorical sculpture located on a Fronton, which in English is a Pediment, but unfortunately, we have been unable to ascertain what this is called, although it was put in place in 1866 during the Second Empire, when the former Palais du Louvre was being renovated, at the time being referred to as The New Louvre.
Now this particular Pediment sculpture was produced by Eugene Delaplanche who was born in 1836 and studied to become a French sculptor, winning the Prix de Rome in 1864, and upon his return from the Villa Medici in Italy, he received many commissions for different statues.
Unfortunately his career was reasonably short lived, as Eugene Delaplanche passed away at only aged 55, yet several of his works can be seen today at another popular tourist attraction in Paris called the Musee d'Orsay, plus, as well as working on the Musee du Louvre, he produced statues for inside the Hotel de Ville, etc.
Yet here you to see the top section of the Aile de Flore where the Pediment is located, and as you are looking at the facade of this wing from The Louvre courtyard called the Cour du Carrousel, this would be the fifth pediment sculpture when counting from the left hand side.
