This first HD photo shows an allegorical sculpture depicting History, which is located on the Aile de Flore wing of the former Palais du Louvre, and this was put in place in 1866, when the entire palace was being redone with additional embellishments being added.
But here you can see a close up photograph showing just some of the details with the main female figure and a mythical winged child holding a flame torch, which was produced by Jules Franceschi, yet he was born in 1825 with a full name of Louis Julien Franceschi.
Yet always known as Jules Franceschi, he, along with his brother Paul, both studied under Francois Rude to become French sculptors and Jules received numerous public commissions for works on famous tourist attractions in Paris including The Louvre, Hotel de Ville and the Palais Garnier Opera House.
However, this image shows the location of L'Histoire, and as we mentioned before, this is located on the Aile de Flore, which is a wing of the Louvre Museum that you can see from the courtyard called the Cour du Carrousel.
Although, to be even more precise, this pediment, known as a fronton in French, is above the window on the third level, by the roof line, and it is the fourth from the left hand side of this wing as you are looking in a southerly direction towards the river Seine.
