This first HD photo shows a statue called La Pierre, which in English literally translates to The Stone, however, due to the fact that this is an allegory, often referred to as a young child with attributes, the meaning is more logical to be The Stonemason, especially since the boy is holding tools that would be used in masonry and stone carving.
Here you can see a close up photograph showing the detailing that went into producing the Stonemason statue, which was by Auguste Poitevin, who was born in 1819 and studied to become a French sculptor, with a couple of his works being held within a museum in Vienna, yet very little else is known about this artist.
However, here you can see the position of La Pierre statue located on the balustrade by the roof line on the Aile Henri II, and when you are looking at this facade of the Louvre Museum from the courtyard called the Cour Napoleon, you will see it is located to the far right hand side by the return.
