This first HD photo shows the statue called Guerrier Franc, which in English translates to Frankish Warrior, and sculpted in stone, this was placed within a niche on the Aile de Marsan back in 1866 during the restoration of the former Palais du Louvre.
However, this close up photograph shows the detail that went into producing the statue of the Frankish Warrior, which was by Pierre Alfred Robinet, who was born in Paris in 1814 and studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts to become a French sculptor.
Getting recognised in the Prix de Rome competition meant that Pierre Alfred Robinet received many different public commissions for statues and sculptures during the reign of King Louis Philippe I and through the Second Empire, with several statues executed for The Louvre including this and two of the famous French men portrayed on the facades.
But here you can see that the Guerrier Franc statue is located on the first level of the Aile de Marsan, and if you are looking at this facade from the Cour du Carrousel, then this is positioned to the far right hand side of this wing of the Musee du Louvre.
