The Palais de Chaillot was constructed for the 1937 Universal Exhibition in Paris at the same time as the Jardins du Trocadero were relaid out, and several French sculptors were commissioned to provide different sculptures for the facade of the building, such as this bas relief.
So here you can see a close up photo showing the bas relief sculpture and the name of the artist inscribed on it in the bottom right hand corner between the legs of the male figure, which was Emmanuel Auricoste.
And Emmanuel Auricoste, who was born in Paris in 1908, became a medallist and sculptor, after studying under people such as Antoine Bourdelle, receiving several public commissions including this one, along with other statues and sculptures such as a monument located in Milan.
Unfortunately, we have not been able to find out the name of this bas relief, but you will be able to find this on the facade of the Palais de Chaillot in the central area below the Esplanade de Trocadero where you can get fabulous views to the famous tourist attraction of the Eiffel Tower.
Now this is actually one of nine different bas reliefs, and as you can see, this is the second one from the left hand side, which can be viewed from the steps leading down to the Jardins du Trocadero and is positioned on the outside facade at the top of the restaurant to the theatre located within this building.
