This first HD photo shows the sculpture called Napoleon 1er dominant l’Histoire et les Arts, which in English translates to Napoleon Bonaparte or, Napoleon I dominating the History and the Arts, which was sculpted in collaboration with two different French sculptors called Antoine Barye and Pierre Simart.
Yet this next photograph shows a close up of a part of the pediment sculpture, and due to the fact that Antoine Barye, born in 1875, became a French sculptor specialising in animals, hence an animalier, it is likely that he produced the eagle, which was also a symbol of the Empire.
But here you can see the entire pediment at the top of The Louvre wing called the Pavillon Sully, and although there are no specific details as to what sculptor produced which part, we assume that it was Pierre Simart, born in 1806, that sculpted the other detailing for this top part of the facade.
However, in this photograph you can see the entire pavilion called the Pavillon Sully, which was actually originally called the Pavillon de l'Horlodge, due to the fact that it was one of the main wings of the Louvre Museum that also had a clock.
And you can see this pediment titled Napoleon 1er dominant l’Histoire et les Arts, or in English Napoleon I dominating the History and the Arts from the courtyard of The Louvre called the Cour Napoleon, which is actually the west facade facing toward the I M Pei pyramid.
