This first HD photo shows the statue called L'Encouragement, which as you can no doubt tell, is Encouragement in English, and this can be found on the very top of the impressive pavilion called the Pavillon Sully, which faces towards the pyramids in the Cour Napoleon courtyard.
Designed as an allegorical statue, made of stone, here you can see a close up photo showing some of the detailing that went into this, which was produced by Charles-Francois Leboeuf, who was born in 1792, yet was known as Nanteuil.
Yet this photo shows the location of L'Encouragement statue adorning the ornate wing of The Louvre Museum, which was put in place on the right hand side top pediment in 1857, when the entire former royal palace was being renovated and hundreds of different embellishments were being added to the facades of this famous tourist attraction in Paris.
And Charles-Francois Leboeuf, was one of the many French sculptors who worked on this historical building, receiving lots of public commissions after winning the Prix de Rome, with others to be found at places such as the Gare du Nord, but many different works by Nanteuil can now be found at the Chateau de Versailles and within The Louvre Museum itself.
